Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since
you yourselves are in the body also.
Hebrews 13:3 (NIV)
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was
sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came
unto me. Matthew 25:36
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in:
naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and
in prison, and ye
visited me not.
Matthew 25:43
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because
he hath anointed me to preach
the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach
deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of sight
to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Luke 4:18

Re: Freedom Prison Ministries News!
Dear Friends:
“For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16,
NKJV
John 3:16 is perhaps one of the most widely quoted verses in the entire Bible.
We have all known and quoted the verse since our days as children in Sunday
school classes, or since our conversions. We love to quote John 3:16, as
well we should. It is a wonderful verse that reassures us of God’s love,
and reminds us that God sent His Son, Jesus, so that we might have eternal
life.
But did you know that for many Christians, love is simply an idea or concept
to which they give intellectual assent? There are many people that have never
truly experienced God’s love. They have never internalized this great love
that the Apostle John describes in John 3:16. Plagued by feelings of guilt
and self-condemnation, they are on a vicious roller-coaster. Falsely assuming
that they are unlovable, or incorrectly believing that God loves them one
day but not the next, their lives are tossed to and fro by doubt. Still others
incorrectly believe that they must somehow earn God’s love, or that God’s
love for them is based upon their ability to perform at a certain level.
For these people, love is conditional and fragile. They have not realized
their rightful standing before God on the basis of the finished work of Christ.
But the Bible speaks of another kind of love, teaching that Christians are
in a constant state of being loved by God. The Apostle Paul writes in Romans
8:1, ‘For there is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,
who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” The
simple truth is that God loved us long before we were even born (Eph. 1:4),
and He sent His son, Jesus, to redeem us while we were utterly without strength.
“But God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while we were still
sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8.
Freedom Prison Ministries is reaching into some of the darkest places on
earth, our prison system, in both the United States and abroad, with the
only message capable of penetrating the stone hearts of men. And that message
is God’s love through Jesus Christ our Lord. It is a powerful message capable
of bringing hardened men out of the darkness, and into the light, where they
can confidently confess their sins, and seek change, with the full assurance
that God truly loves them no matter what. I firmly believe that the love
of God in Christ is the only message capable of producing any form of true
or lasting rehabilitation, and allowing men to experience abundant life.
Freedom Prison Ministries is holding crusades and evangelistic events in
a number of locations. We are preaching in prison chapels and prison cafeterias,
where we combine music and worship along with solid biblical teaching and
preaching. We are seeing revival in many of these institutions. We are seeing
lives changed. We are seeing new converts to Christianity, and we are seeing
wayward men recommit their lives to Christ. We are seeing spiritual growth
and core discipleship among the more mature converts, and we are witnessing
a tremendous hunger for the Word of God. Ironically, it is just the opposite
of what is happening in many traditional churches! We are doing our part
to carry out our Lord’s Great Commission. We are educating the world to save
the world!
I am pleased to report upcoming evangelistic events at Ojibway Correctional
Facility, Baraga Maximum Security Prison, both in Upper Michigan, and at
the Stanley Correctional Facility, in Wisconsin. We will have a busy agenda
in 2008, which also includes conferences and churches.
I am pleased to report the expansion of Freedom Prisons into South Dakota.
We have approved a new chapter of the prison ministry to operate in Sioux
Falls, South Dakota.
I am also pleased to report the continuing presence of Freedom Prison Ministries
in Lagos, Nigera. Under the capable leadership of Dr. Israel Ikpeka, Freedom
Prison Ministries continues to reach the lost at the Kirikiri Maximum Security
Prison. Please pray for Dr. Ikpeka’s work there.
I am pleased to report that Freedom Bible College and Seminary is offering
a wonderful program in prison and hospital chaplaincy, which is now fully
operational. FBCS is enrolling students into the new programs, which have
the potential to unleash an army of exceptionally qualified workers. Please
take a moment to visit the FBCS website, at http://freedomministries.com
I also invite likeminded churches and ministries, those interested in beginning
exciting prison and jail ministries in your own areas, to pray about opening
your own approved chapter of Freedom Prison Ministries. Membership is easy.
You can learn more about how to join by visiting our website, or by contacting
me.
Lastly, please pray for the Incarcerated Church. This church is uniquely
a part of the Body of Christ. We are told in Scripture to remember those
in prison, as if chained with them. They need your prayers.
This is an exciting time to serve the Lord.
In Christ,
Dr. John Johnson, Jr.
